This is my first holidays in my new home and I can't wait for family to see it for the first time,

Now that it's getting colder I am making sure that my side walks will be shoveled and I had my furnace checked to make sure it's working properly I need to make sure that the weather striping around my doors is OK.

My first house payment is due in November and it feels = great,

It's nice to know that the money is not going torward o= ther peoples bills like when you rent. Having to make morgage paynents mean= s that I can build equety that I can use if I need to use as I want su= ch as repairs.

Life in my new place has = settled down to normal.

There is one more project in the next coup= le of days that is going to give me another exit out of my house.

One of the patio doors is going to be replaced with a s= ingle door that will allow me to get out in my scooter and or wheelcha= ir in case of an emergency.

Owning a home takes responsability

Now that I own my place I can't call maintenance tofix = something.

That is my responsability now. I am working on building= up my savings so that I can pay for such things when it happens.

It has taken a little while but my home is becoming jus= t that.

Making the transition from renter to homeowner is= stressful but as I work through getting used to being an owner it fe= els great.

I went to the closing to sign the paperwork to make it = official.

When they handed me the file and the keys what a feelin= g that is.

Now it's time to celebrate a little and then settle in = and enjoy my new home.

Hello All

I am getting closer to moving day the motification of m= y condo.

It is like a waiting game inthe mean time I am stating = to pack.

I went over yesterday to see if I could take some pictu= res to show people the progress that has been made.

Rehab moving along

I met with Rebecca today to see how things are progress= ing on my condo things are moving along they will be putting up drywal= l soon and the appliances will soon follow.

It looks like I may be moved in by the end of july.

Getting ideas

I went over to another house that was made accessible f= or her.

To get ideas on counter hights for my chair and to see = if there was anything I could incoperate into my condo.

One thing is that we are going to lower the stove to ma= ke it easier to reach the back burners.

The renovation is moving right along and Ihope to move = in by mid August.

Made deciisions on flooring, paint, shwer

Things are moving along

I picked out a type of vinyl flooring that has some tex= ture to it so I won't slip as easily when I walk especially in the ba= throom.

I also picked out paint for the living room bedroom and= bathroom.

We also looked at a couple roll in shower designs.

Next week the work on my codo will begin.

I know I have to be paitiant I wish I couold move in to= day,It will be here before I know it.

I go to the bank next week to sign the paperwork to loc= k in my interest rate on my mortgage.

The plan is to have my new home done by the end of july= ..

I saw the floorplans for my codo a few days ago.=

It's going to be wide open the livingroom will go right= into the kitchen and the bedroom will be wide open part of the room will b= e my office and laundry room and the other will be my bedroom.

The bathroom will be big enough for me to ge= t around in my wheelchair and in and out of the shower. the kitchen will be= set up so I can get to everything while seated.

I should be able to move in by the end of July if not b= efore.

Hello everyone

I wanted you all to know that my new condo has been per= chased by tenants to homeowners and the Lawrence Community Housing Trust. T= hey will own it while the rehab is beening done.

They will sell it to me and I will pay the mo= rgage

I will meet with Rebecca in the next week or so t= o go over the final plans and the work will begin.

I will be on vacation for a while I wll talk to you soo= n.

Update

Tenants to home owners has purchased my condo they will= own it while it is being rehabbed they will sell it back to me and I will = pay the mortgage. I will be meeting with the builder in the next two days a= nd the work should start shortly

The plan is to have it finished by the end of July if n= ot sooner.

I am excited!

Went to the Bank Today

Hello all,

I went to the bank today to take the next step in this process. = I went to meet with my contact at the bank to get pre-approved for a home l= oan.

To get ready, here are the documents I had to have with m= e:

Bank Statements (both checking and savings)

Tax Returns

Income Statements/Check Stubs

Social Security Reports

I had gone through some of this information with Rebecca Buford a= t Tenants to Homeowners earlier this week, so I knew what to e= xpect. But I'll admit I was little bit nervous asking for a loan= for that much money. But in the end, it only took a little over 20 m= inutes to go through everything, and my contact at the bank was very nice a= nd made this experience as smooth as possible and it all went really smooth= .. I'll find out early next week whether I was pre-approved for a= loan to actually by my own home!!!

So keep your fingers crossed!! After I hear back from the bank n= ext week, I'll let you know and keep you posted on what comes next.
